Vikki’s Musings

I have been a fan of Tina Folsom since I read Samson’s Lovely Mortal years ago. I recently decided to read/listen her Eternal Bachelors Club series, and I am so glad I did. I have enjoyed the first three books in the series, but I love One Foolish Night. I have been fascinated with Holly’s character since the Lawful Escort as the quicky room-mate of Sabrina’s, the heroine in the first three books.

Holly Foster has worked for an Escort service for years. After seeing the happiness her friend, Sabrina has found with Daniel Sinclair, she decides to resign and see if it’s possible for her to find a fulfilling and lasting love as well.

While dancing with Paul Gilbert, a member of the Eternal bachelors Club and friend of Daniel’s, she gives into the man’s allure and suggests a night of pleasure, never knowing that this encounter will forever change her life.

When the seductive Holly offers him a night of passion, he readily accepts. Holly is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen. The morning after a night he will remember forever, he discovers that Holly is a call girl and he does not take it well and says some unforgiveable comments he can never take back.

Two months later, his mother is again badgering him about marrying and giving her another grandchild to add to his sister’s three-year-old little devil, Jonathan. His parents are celebrating their 35th anniversary, and his mother insists he come. He knows she’ll have a dozen eligible females who will want to get their hooks into him. He tells his mother that he already has a girlfriend named Holly.

Desperate to avoid the female piranhas at his mother party, he hatches the scheme of hiring Holly to play his girlfriend for the week at his parents. At first Holly wants no part, but when he offers her an unbelievable sum of money, enough to buy the match-making business she wants, she accepts his proposition against her better judgement.

Can anything permanent come from their one foolish night, or will Paul continue to only see her as the call girl he still believes she is?

Wow, I just say, wow, what a fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed Holly and Paul’s story even more than I enjoyed Sabrina and Daniel’s. The chemistry between the couple is combustible from their first night together and continues throughout the rest of the book. The sexual scenes are incredibly hot and erotic, but the best part is the love that grows between Holly and Paul.

For such a short book, both characters are extremely well-developed. The storyline is unique and held my attention from the first scene to the last. Ms. Folsom is a master at weaving an exciting tale, whether it is vampires or bachelors. I have read all of her books, except One Long Embrace, which I am starting next, and I have yet to be disappointed! I can’t wait to read/listen to Jay and Tara’s story.

As always, Eric G. Dove brings Ms. Folsom’s character to life. He does an awesome job distinguishing the male and female characters, giving each of them their own unique voice. His narration is passionately performed and enhances my listening pleasure tremendously.

If you have not read or listened to any of Tina Folsom’s books, I highly recommend you do. I love her writing style and I’m sure you will as well. The Eternal Bachelors series and One Foolish Night in particular is perfect for anyone who enjoys highly sensual contemporary romance. Happy reading!
