Jason Sutherland is a billionaire investor who has it all: good looks, billions of dollars, and every expensive toy a man could ever want. What he doesn’t have is the one thing he wants the most: Hope Sinclair. Unfortunately Hope, the little sister of his best friend, was off limits. But when he finds out that she’s getting married, he decides that he’s staking his claim before it’s too late, and it will take more than a little deception and risk to accomplish his goal. Hope could end up hating his guts, but after spending one forbidden night with her that he can’t forget, he knows he has to try to make her his forever.

Hope Sinclair was born into money, but being rich has never made her happy. The one thing she wants is a man to care about her and not her bank account. The closest thing she’s ever found to real happiness was the magical, passionate night she’d spent in the arms of Jason Sutherland…until that night turned into heartbreak. So when he unexpectedly comes back into her life in the strangest of ways, Hope is determined to resist her attraction to him.

Thrown together by Jason’s deception and with their passion still burning hot, can the two of them survive after the billionaire is unmasked?

Vikki’s Musings

After reading/listening to No Ordinary Billionaire, I decided to read/listen to Billionaire Unmasked. I had pre-ordered the book, but never had read it, so I downloaded the audio version as well. This is the 6th book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series and a great addition to this awesome set.

Hope Sinclair has a multitude of secrets that keep her isolated from her family and her friends at a distance. When she sees Jason Sutherland at her brother’s New Year’s Eve party, she is as infatuated with him as she was as a starry-eyed eighteen-year-old graduating from high school. Even though she is now twenty-six, she wants him, but knows nothing can come of it. One of her secrets will forever keep her from having a meaningful relationship with any man.

When Jason spies Hope across the room, he realizes that he is still attracted her, even though eight years have passed since he first saw her as an adult. He had protected her from bullies as she was growing up. As the party goers bring in the New Year, he make his away to Hope’s side, drawing her away and out onto a balcony. Unable to resist the pull of attraction, he kisses her the way he has fantasized over since she turned eighteen.

After spending a night of passion together, he wants more. Even though they did not take their lovemaking all the way, Hope stopped him, he is determined he will not let this chance pass him by. Something held Hope back, and he needs to find out what it is so he can have the full banquet, not just the first course.

Will his pursuit lead to the sexual fulfillment he craves, or will Hope continue to put up road blocks, keeping them apart?

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance between Hope and Jason. Their love for each other unfolds in an emotionally satisfying way. My heart ached for Hope and what she had experienced. When Jason learns what happened, he handles it perfectly, giving Hope exactly what she needs. This is an amazing love story. I love complex characters and Hope is definitely complex with a great many layers for Jason to uncover.

I did have a small problem with the constant use of the F-word. The word is used 82 times. I’m certainly not offended by the word, but enough is enough. Once Jason moved beyond the “I want to f*** her until I get her out of my system” stage, he was making love to Hope. Now I’m not saying the sexual scenes were not incredible, I just would have liked the tender moments where they are expressing their love for each other, to be about more than the f***ing.

Since I also listened to the narrative, I want to mention it. Elizabeth Powers is fantastic! She reads with passion and gives each character a distinct voice. Her male voices are raspy and very masculine. I will be looking for more books narrated by her. In fact, I am starting Billionaire Untamed tonight! I can’t wait to read/listen to Tate’s story!

If you enjoy a tale with plenty of highly erotic sexual scenes with a wonderful love story intertwined, then Billionaire Unmasked is a book you will want to read. In fact, I highly recommend the entire series. I’m enjoying it immensely. Happy reading!
