BIG SKY CHRISTMAS

Thack Lane has his hands full. For the past seven years, he's been struggling to move on from his wife's tragic death and raise a daughter all by his lonesome. He doesn't have time for himself, much less a cheerful new neighbor with a smile that can light up the ranch.
Christmas spirit? Bah, humbug.
With Christmas right around the corner, Summer Shaw is searching for somewhere to belong. When her neighbor's young daughter takes a shine to her, she is thrilled. But Thack is something else altogether. He's got walls around his heart that no amount of holiday wishes can scale. Yet as joy comes creeping back to the lonely homestead, Summer and Thack may just find their happily ever after before the last of the Christmas miracles are through...

Vikki’s Musings

Nicole Helm is a new-to-me author. When I received an offer to read True Blue Cowboy Christmas via Net-Galley in exchange for an honest review, I read the book description and since it sounded like a sweet, heart-warming Christmas romance with the bonus of a child as part of the story, I eagerly accepted. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful tale.

Summer Shaw longs to be fully accepted by her new-found family, but she still feels apart from them, not due to them, though. She still hears her reprobate mother’s voice in her head telling her she is worthless.

Thack Lane lost his wife but gained a beautiful daughter. He’s determined to shelter her from anything that could harm her whether emotionally or physically to the point he is stifling her. When she wonders from his property and discovers Summer’s Fairy-tale caravan, his father takes matters into his own hands and hires Summer to cook and take care of Kate.

As Thack gets to know Summer, he starts to question his life and his daughter’s, could she be the light in his life and his daughter’s, they both desperately desire?

True Blue Cowboy Christmas is a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas story. It’s emotionally-charged with unforgettable characters. The pacing of the story kept me engaged from the first page to the last. The plot is believable and well-thought out.

Summer’s character gained my empathy from the first page even though I didn’t learn her background until later in the story. Her tender caring of the sweet little girl stole my heart. Her interactions with her family and with Thack’s father touched my heart and at times brought tears to my eyes.

Thack is a troubled hero, and I always love a wounded soul. His integrity is unquestioned from the first scene he’s in and only goes stronger as the story progresses. He’s so determined to fulfill his dying wife’s request and never forget her sacrifice. I could actually feel his struggle between his growing love for Summer and his desire to stay true to his late wife’s memory.

The chemistry between Summer and Thack is so sweet and innocent, so different than what I expected in a cowboy romance, but no less desirable. It’s not often in romances today unless they are inspirational to find that. Now don’t misunderstand, there is plenty of sexual tension between them from their first meeting.

If you’re looking for a Christmas tale with a moving love story, one that will leave you sighing with a big smile on your face when they achieve their happy ending, then you will love True Blue Cowboy Christmas as much as I did. In fact, I enjoyed this book so much that I have already downloaded the first two books in this series. Happy reading!
