I have been
a fan of J.S. Scott’s for a while now, ever since I read Mine for Tonight. Recently I had a chance to meet Ms. Scott at the
Romance Writers Of America conference in New York City the other week. She gave
me an advance reader copy of The Forbidden Billionaire, and I
also downloaded the audio version as soon as it was released. Ms. Scott has
written another great story in the Sinclair series. I enjoyed it immensely.
Jared
Sinclair has a troubled past. He is plagued by memories of his best friend and
girlfriend’s death. His guilt over not driving them the night of the accident
is eating him alive. Through the help of
his brother, Evan, he has managed to stumble through life by maintaining ridged
control over every aspect of his existence.
Mara Ross
has just learned her home and doll shop have been sold. For her this is
devastating news. Not only will she lose her premises for her shop, but the
only home she has ever had. As she pours her heart out to Jared Sinclair, she
is unaware that he is the one who has bought her home.
Jared feels
a major load of guilt for putting her in this position. When he discovers her
side business of selling taffy, jams and sauces at the local farmer’s market,
he offers to help her expand her business. As they work together on the
project, his attraction to Mara grows to a fierce passion. He must have her.
When the
passion between the couple flares to a combustible level, Jared realizes his
feelings are much more than only physical. Will his secret destroy his chance
at a forever kind of love?
I enjoyed
the romance between Mara and Jared tremendously from the first combustible
scene to the last. The chemistry between them sizzles, threatening to burn my
ears and my hands. Since I listened to this while driving and on my breaks at
work, I worried that my flaming cheeks and heavy breathing would give me away!
Ms. Scott definitely knows how to write sexually explicit love scenes to say
the least.
Mara is an
endearing character with her fierce determination to succeed and her touch of
innocence. Her reaction to Jared leads her to experiencing a level of passion
she has never experienced before, and I loved her awe and amazement as she
discovers true physical desire. Her feelings and emotions fairly jump off the
page.
Jared is my
favorite kind of hero, a tortured soul. However, he does not let his past stand
in the way of his pursuit of Mara. I love how he convinces Mara to accept his
help. When he shares what happened to his best friend and his girlfriend, his
pain is raw and moved me to tears.
I
highly recommend The Forbidden Billionaire to anyone who enjoys a sexually hot
romance with a unique storyline. I found it a fast and entertaining read and
will definitely hope there will be another book in the series. I want Evan’s
story. Happy reading!
