Dante Sinclair never
cared about his family’s money. All the young billionaire ever wanted was to be
a cop; and now that he’s a homicide detective in Los Angeles, he’s a damn good
one. But when he is injured and loses his partner in the line of duty, he returns
to his vacation home in Amesport, Maine, to recover.
Sarah Baxter, a brilliant young doctor
still struggling with her stifled upbringing, has recently moved from Chicago
to sleepy Amesport to escape her past, hoping to find peace. When Sarah is assigned
to Dante’s case, there’s an instant heat between them. They couldn’t possibly
be more different, yet their igniting passion is impossible to ignore. As new
feelings awaken within Sarah, her haunted past returns, threatening her once
again. But can Dante overcome his grief and discover the secrets Sarah is
hiding in time to protect and rescue her?

Musings
I have read J.S. Scott’s
Vampire Coalition and several book in The Billionaire’s Obsession series and enjoyed
them, so when I found this through the Kindle Unlimited program, I decided to
start this series as well. I also purchased the Audio version as well. No
Ordinary Billionaire is a highly entertaining and very hot read.
Detective Dante Sinclair
almost loses his life in a barrage of bullets. He throws himself over his
partner, not realizing that Patrick died immediately. It should have been him,
not his partner. Patrick had a wife and a son, he had neither. His brother,
Grady, flies him to his vacation home, a house Dante built, but has only seen a
few times, to recover from his multiple gunshot wounds and try to mend his broken
spirit.
Dr. Sarah Baxter is a
woman who has never experienced passion and sees sex as a mating ritual for procreation
only. Her one foray with sex was painful and unfulfilling. She is also a
survivor from a brutal attack that almost took her life, leaving her unable to
practice medicine in a hospital because that is where she was attacked.
When Sarah goes to Dante’s
house as his attending physician, sparks fly between them, and this has never
happened to her before. What could she have in common with a detective and a billionaire?
Can this unlikely pair find the connection that will bring them out of the
darkness that both of them are enmeshed in?
No Ordinary Billionaire
has a unique aspect to it. I have never read a novel with a billionaire who
works as a detective and lives in a small one bedroom apartment, a man who does
not use his money, but lives on his salary as a policeman. That gave an unusual
twist to this very erotic romance.
I enjoyed the romance
between Sarah and Dante tremendously from the first combustible scene to the
last. The chemistry between them sizzled, threatening to burn my ears and my
hands. Since I listened to this while driving and on my breaks at work, I
worried that my flaming cheeks and heavy breathing would give me away! Ms.
Scott definitely knows how to write sexually explicit love scenes to say the
least.
I loved Sarah’s
character. She is vulnerable and naïve to the ways of sex, and Dante is the
perfect man to awaken her sexual desires, but this story has more to it than
great sex. There is an intriguing mystery that unfolds and several very
suspenseful scenes that had me sitting on the edge of my seat.
I highly recommend No
Ordinary Billionaire to anyone who enjoys a sexually hot romance with a unique
storyline. I found it a fast and entertaining read and will definitely read the
next book in the series. Happy reading!
