Vikki’s Musings

I found The 12 Dares of Christmas on Net-Galley. The book description sounded interesting, so I requested the book. It’s a sweet story with a unique plot twist.

This book is fast-paced with an endearing heroine and a yummy hero. I always love ginger guys. I even married one! This is a delightful holiday story sure to put you in the mood. However, the book description is a bit deceiving. This book is very erotic, not what I expected, but nonetheless, enjoyable.

Lauren Hall mistake’s her brother friend for the stripper for her fundraiser to build a No-Kill Animal Shelter. There is a mystery to solve there since she is deathly afraid of animals. I’ll leave it to you to find out why. This starts their adventure with dares that titillate one’s fancy.

Gabe Nicholson is in town visiting his friend, Lauren’s brother. When he meets her, he is immediately attracted to her. What starts out as a holiday fling, soon becomes so much more. Is there a chance Lauren and Gabe have found their chance at a forever kind of love?

I truly fell in love with Lauren’s character from the first page. While she quickly enters into a sexual affair with Gabe, there is an air of innocence to her that I found very appealing. There is a surprising amount of depth to her character for a shorter book.

Gabe character, on the surface, comes across as carefree, footloose and fancy free, but underneath, he had a lot more going on. He’s worried about his future career, and this is not the best time for him to fall for anyone, especially not his over-protective friend’s sister, but the heart sometimes leads one contrary to what one’s head may think is best.

I thoroughly enjoyed the epilogue. It ties up everything with a pretty bow. If you enjoy light-hearted Christmas stories with plenty of heart and lots of spice, then you will like The 12 Dares of Christmas. Happy reading!
